About my work

Artistic Practice & Philosophy

For me, collage is more than a form of artistic expression — it is a way of reflecting, rearranging and telling stories. Thoughts, memories, found materials and emotions all become part of my creative process. My compositions emerge intuitively, through fragments and layers. They are not so much searched for as discovered.

Female figures are central to many of my works. I combine them with other visual elements, placing them in new and unexpected contexts. My approach often resembles a visual and poetic puzzle: lines, shapes and structures are reduced, shifted and rearranged until the composition finds its balance. The tactile qualities of the materials and the visible traces of time are just as meaningful to me as the central subject.

“When I layer the yellowed pages of an old book, I become aware of the deeper meaning of these layers in my work. Every page carries a story — just like life itself.”

Abstract Collage & the Poetry of Materials

Alongside my figurative work, I create abstract mixed media collages in which the materials themselves take centre stage. Their textures, patina and origins tell stories of their own. Through tearing, layering and assembling paper, I create artworks that explore impermanence, memory and the beauty of imperfection.

A piece often begins with a single found fragment — something that gradually reveals its own narrative as the creative process unfolds.

“I cut, abstract and rearrange — until everything finds its place.”

A Glimpse into My Creative Process

An essential part of my artistic practice is the creative process itself — and reflecting on it.

It often begins with collecting paper: found materials discovered on the street, sourced online or given to me by friends and acquaintances. I rarely buy new materials. What fascinates me is how much history, coincidence and meaning can be found in these seemingly ordinary pieces of paper.

Paper is everywhere — and for me, it becomes the starting point for artistic exploration, taking on new forms and meanings with every collage.

On my Instagram account @art.oder.artig, I regularly share insights into how my collages come to life through short videos accompanied by music and text.

For me, collage is a metaphor for life — with all its fractures, transitions and layers. It tells stories of what is visible and what lies beneath.
