About Birthe Çil

Birthe Çil is a contemporary mixed media and collage artist based in Bremen, Germany. Her original artwork combines vintage papers, analogue techniques and layered compositions to explore memory, materiality and visual storytelling.

At the heart of her artistic practice are historical materials, fragments of everyday life and the stories they carry. With an academic background in literature and art history, she brings a particular sensitivity to language, imagery and narrative structures.

Having lived and worked in Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin and Hamburg, she has developed an artistic perspective shaped by different cultural environments and visual traditions.

Her mixed media collages combine historical photographs, vintage magazines, found papers and carefully selected materials. Through layering, contrasting textures and intuitive composition, she creates contemporary artworks that invite viewers to discover their own associations and interpretations.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including exhibitions in Marrakech and Germany, and is currently on display in Berlin. Through social media, her artistic practice reaches an international community of collage artists and art enthusiasts.

As a qualified art teacher with years of teaching experience, Birthe also shares her creative approach through in-person and online collage workshops. Her teaching focuses on composition, visual perception and the creative possibilities of working with limited materials.
